Support Regional Heritage Preservation

The Marlborough Museum and Provincial Archives relies on community patronage, memberships, and bequests to preserve local collections for future generations. As an incorporated non-profit society, membership subscriptions directly fund collection conservation, archive cataloguing, educational programmes, and historic building maintenance at Brayshaw Heritage Park.

Becoming a member of the Friends of Marlborough Museum provides vital operational funding while connecting you directly with regional research projects, behind-the-scenes tours, and seasonal exhibitions. Our museum friends and supporters ensure our regional collections remain protected and accessible.

Friends of Marlborough Museum Subscription

Subscriptions run from 1 July to 30 June. Friends receive free museum entry (saving $10 per visit), complimentary membership of the Marlborough Historical Society, newsletters emailed throughout the year, invitations to two fundraising dinners, behind-the-scenes tours, exhibition previews, advance notices on publications, and four free entry guest vouchers annually.

Direct financial contributions assist in day-to-day operation and ongoing maintenance of the museum, our exhibits, and our facilities.

The Marlborough Historical Society accepts donations, membership fees, and other types of payments by Credit Card and Eftpos when you drop your completed form in to us. To arrange internet banking transfers, please use your surname and initials as the reference on your deposit to Marlborough Historical Society. While cheques used to be accepted, please note that New Zealand banks no longer process them, so we can now only accept payments via internet banking, credit card, or EFTPOS.

Volunteer & Research Opportunities

Our provincial archives and heritage streetscapes are supported by dedicated volunteers who assist with visitor guidance, cataloguing archival photography, maintaining colonial machinery, and assisting public research enquiries.

If you have skills in historical research, collection care, carpentry, or public reception and wish to contribute your time, we welcome your involvement.

Archival Research Note: The Marlborough Archives research room operates Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Volunteers are available to assist with, among a plethora of subjects, regional genealogy, family letters, and land records.
